This logic puzzle asks you to decide who has the red box when only one person is telling the truth.

The Answer
The correct answer is: Alice.
Here is why
- If Alice tells the truth, Bob has it; then Bob is lying and Carol is also telling the truth, giving two truthful people. That cannot work.
- If Bob tells the truth, Carol has it; then Carol is also telling the truth that Bob is lying cannot both be true. That cannot work.
- So Carol is the only truthful person: Bob is lying and Alice is lying. Bob does not have it, Carol does not have it, so Alice has the red box.
Why people miss it
The wording is tricky because each statement changes whether another statement can also be true.
