The Surprising Facts About Trump and JD Vance’s Relationship

When JD Vance was named as Donald Trump’s running mate for the 2024 presidential election, the announcement left many people scratching their heads. At the time, Vance was a political newcomer, much younger than Trump (half his age), and had publicly criticized him in the past. Despite this, Trump firmly stood by his choice, declaring, “I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator JD Vance of the Great State of Ohio.”

On the surface, their partnership seems unlikely, but according to inside sources, there is an undeniable chemistry between the two. Republican strategist Garrett Ventry told NBC News that Trump and Vance shared a special bond, even calling them “friends.” Some sources have even described their relationship as a “buddy level” dynamic. However, there are certainly some bizarre aspects of their relationship that can’t be ignored.

JD Vance Was Once Very Anti-Trump

This might be the most perplexing part of their relationship. Back in 2016, prior to Trump’s first presidential term, Vance was a vocal critic of Trump. He called himself a “Never Trump” supporter, acknowledging that while he understood why people voted for Trump, he personally didn’t like him. He went so far as to compare Trump to “America’s Hitler,” describing him as “noxious” and leading the white working class down a “dark path.” However, Vance later shifted his stance, admitting that Trump turned out to be a “great president” and stating that it’s okay to change your mind if you’ve been wrong.

Trump Gets His Revenge on JD Vance

Despite Vance’s earlier criticism of Trump, he eventually found himself apologizing and trying to win back Trump’s favor. In a Fox News interview, Vance confessed that he regretted his past comments, saying, “I’ve been very open that I did say those critical things, and I regret them, and I regret being wrong about the guy.” However, Trump didn’t let him off the hook so easily. At a 2022 Ohio rally, Trump revealed how desperately Vance had tried to get on his good side. Trump made several pointed comments, even downplaying the significance of the vice president’s role in presidential elections, calling it a position with “virtually no impact.” That definitely stung!
