Once upon a time, there was a couple celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. They had become local legends, known far and wide for having never had a single argument in all those years.
The local newspaper editors were intrigued by the couple’s reputation for having such a “happy marriage” and decided to attend their celebration to uncover the secret.
Editor: “Sir, this is amazing! How did you manage to stay together for 25 years without a single disagreement?”
The husband smiled, recalling their honeymoon, and began to share the story:
“We went to Bora Bora for our honeymoon, and after much debate, we decided to go horseback riding. I chose a steady, well-behaved horse, but my wife’s horse seemed a bit… spirited.
As we started, my horse was perfectly fine, but suddenly, my wife’s horse bolted, throwing her to the ground.
She got up, dusted herself off, and calmly patted the horse’s back, saying, ‘That was your first mistake.’ Then she got back on and we continued our ride.
Not long after, the same thing happened again. The horse bucked, and she was on the ground once more. But this time, she simply said, ‘That was your second mistake,’ and climbed back up without a word.
The third time the horse threw her, she calmly pulled a revolver from her purse and shot the horse dead.
I was absolutely stunned. ‘What are you doing?! Are you crazy? You just shot that poor horse!’ I yelled.
She looked at me, completely unfazed, and said, ‘This is your first mistake.’”
The husband chuckled and finished with a smile: “And that, my friend, is the secret to our 25 years of happiness.”
